Bedlam is a multidirectional shooting game developed in 1982 by General Consumer Electronics. The player controls a gun in the center of the screen that can rotate on itself at will (360°).
The setting of the game is a geometric shape that changes as the levels progress.
Each corner of this geometric shape sends enemy ships that must be destroyed.
The ships each have different attack systems, some advance in a straight line, some rotate around the player, and some are indestructible, they can only be moved away from your cannon.
If any of the enemy ships make contact with the player, you will lose a life.
You can regain lives every 10,000 points.
In addition to the fire button, the player can use a button to turn quickly to better defend himself at the expense of accuracy and a button dedicated to the use of a bomb destroying all enemies on the screen.
The shooting is automatic, no need to spam a button to shoot (phew), however, if you spam the shoot button, you will shoot much faster. Using a Turbo can be a good alternative to multiply the shots and have more chances to hit the enemy ships.
For an optimal game, any arcade joystick can do the trick (only 2 axes are used) and a controller with a turbo like the SuperNes Turbo USB controller is quite suitable.
To be avoided: a Nintendo Nes type controller, as it only has 2 action buttons, you will have to do without a game function.
